Zofees

I brought both babies to bed as always yesterday evening and they were coughing a bit, but everything was okay otherwise. I went to bed a few hours later and I always check on the babies by putting my hand on their chest. It seemed okay still, but Alice felt a bit hot. So I put her side of the duvet on the side, so she'd have a bit more cool air surrounding her. I had just closed my eyes when she woke up and started crying. And sobbing was what she did the rest of the night with 39 degrees fever. She was only slightly more content, when she was in my arms and we sat in the armchair next to the bed. So there we sat. I tried to give some pain killer, but that came out immediately. But some must have found its destination, because she fell asleep at some point. Antonia slept through the whole night. Not waking up when Alice cried nor did she wake up when I lit the lamp. Today, Alice has had a fever all day and she couldn't eat porridge without cascading it out. Antonia has been in a great mood and happily doing her thing in her playpool. Put Alice to bed and had thought about putting towels out, just in case and voila! cascading as soon as she got a sip of milk. So out of bed, into new pj's and clean her up. Back to bed. Put Antonia to bed. Give her milk. After a bottle, she cascaded even worse than her sister. So clean up her, the bed, new pj's and initially I wanted to put her into a different bed, but then Alice had fallen asleep and I couldn't wake her up to change beds - sick and all. So out with new towels and Antonia on top. A bit of a princess on the pea feeling, but ok. It took her ages to fall asleep and I even used some patting on her back as a way to relax her. Now finally she fell asleep with her big fox on her head. Let's hope they sleep through the night and feel better tomorrow. I had a work meeting today and you aren't quite yourself when you've slept less than 2 hours. That's for sure. Tomorrow is my regular work day. Let's hope I'll be in better shape then.
